Infertility Treatment

There is compelling evidence that the majority of people who have struggled with infertility are hindered due to stress hormones.  Stress hormones affect the hypothalamus and pituitary glands and reproductive organs.  In women under stress, the reproductive hormone prolactin is over-produced and this can interfere with ovulation.

Hypnosis affects the hypothalamus, the neural centre at the base of the brain linked to the pituitary gland, and controls the flow of hormones in the body.  The hypothalamus is sensitive to stress and acts as a bridge between the emotional and physical.  When a person is stressed negative emotional messages turn into physical responses that effect hormone levels.  Research studies now document the correlation between stress and infertility.  Stress is literally a nervous reaction that occurs within the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS).  A vast network of nerves branching out from the spinal cord, the ANS directly affects every organ in the body.  Divided into two distinct systems – the ‘Sympathetic’ and ‘Parasympathetic’ Nervous Systems – the ANS is responsible for maintaining the equilibrium of our internal environment. Put simply, one system is concerned with the mobilization of forces to meet an emergency (the famous ‘fight or flight’ response), the other with the relaxed, regenerative states.

By relaxing in ways such as learning meditation, yoga and hypnotherapy, your body is not stressed and can align itself properly to allow for the natural process of conception (when timing is right).

How often have you heard couples conceived after just adopting a child, or falling pregnant as soon as they stop trying!  There’s a hidden meaning when ‘trying’ to do something, it basically means ‘failing’, if I was trying to ride a bike when I was young, I wasn’t riding the bike, I was trying to, otherwise I would be just riding a bike.  The same goes with getting pregnant, you are either going to get pregnant or you are trying.   So from today, please replace ‘trying’ with ‘getting’.

Hypnotherapy has shown some amazing results when there are subconscious blockages such as fearing childbirth (we’ve all seen horror movies of these), guilt from previous miscarriages, past trauma from sexual abuse, religious beliefs, believing you don’t deserve it and so on.

Hypnosis Increases Natural Conception by at least 50%! Infertile women utilizing mind/body techniques such as hypnosis have a 42-55% better conception rate as compared to 20% with in vitro fertization (IVF) The Journal of the American Medical Women’s Association 1999 and the Journal of Fertility and Sterility 2000. (Studies conducted by Alice Domar, PhD, director of the Beth Israel Deaconess Behavioural Medicine Program for Infertility in Boston)

When choosing to use hypnotherapy to assist with conception, it’s probably best to choose one who is also qualified in counselling or psychotherapy so they can help you feel better and cope more effectively with your situation,  so you can express your emotions and talk openly about the past struggles; the therapist can also teach you techniques to relax and begin to take control of your life again.
